We would like to extract code from a form-routine into a new static class-method to *begin* refactoring legacy code as described in "Working effectively with legacy code"...
Currently it's shock-and-awe:
awe: we can easily extract code and it's working great!
shock: we are limited to classes and cannot refactor the existing function-group codebase....

Hello,
in the protected section of a class, there is a weird behaviour for indentation when pressing ENTER.
Here is the source code before pressing ENTER:
The cursor is in line 22, column 5 before the "TYPES:". Now, when I press ENTER, it looks like this:
The "TYPES:" is indeted, the new column position is 14.
I would have expected no indentation at all. This does not happen, if I have a TYPES notation without the colon (:).
Any idea, why this behaviour occurs?

Hi,
Which package/flavour of Eclipse (Luna or Mars) is best installed for ABAP/BW/HANA development (and nothing else)?
I only see that one needs to install Eclipse and it's not clear which package is best suitable.

I download and installed Eclipse Luna 4.4 and then installed via plugin the tool to connect to ABAP.
My SAP system is 7.31 SP 6 so if i remember well and i read well the doc, i can easily connect to it.
I create a new project and choose from the SAPGui my Development connection (that has SAPROUTER String) press next, put my logon data and...
I got the error below! 
Logon to system <devsys> failed (saprouterdc: route permission denied (<ip address> to)
First thought I got: IT dep stops somehow the ports but then i could not access even via SAPGui, right?
Second thought: cry like a baby and ask for some help here on SCN.
Any hint?

I downloaded the ADT(ABAP Development Tools) , SAPUI5 tool kit & SAPUI5 ABAP Repository Team Provider plugins from smp. When I try to add these plugins to eclipse first two were success full (ADT, SAPUI5 tool kit). When I try to add this SAPUI5 ABAP Repository Team Provider its giving me below error.

To begin with, I'm quite new to SAP and have little to no knowledge in ABAP and the whole SAP environment. I must also say that, just from the looks, our SAP never made me want to look deeper into it - it just seems old and inconvenient. Nevertheless, I'm "testing" ABAP in Eclipse; so far I'm impressed. Compared to the rusty workbench, this finally seems like a modern IDE with many helpful features.
There is one thing that bugs me though: whenever a new SAP GUI instance is opened in Eclipse, I have to reenter username and password.
I've tried reading into possible solutions to this, but all I have found are descriptions of rather complex processes that require changes on the backend as well.
My question is actually simple: can I get around this without having to make changes to the backend?
We don't need a SSO solution for the standard SAP GUI Logon, just for ABAP in Eclipse.

after falling in love with Eclipse and not using it for a while now, I receive the following problem report evey time I try to change a local class in my function pool:
since there are no details for this report and I can change all objects concerning my project except of the local classes defined in my function pool, I hope to find some help in the community.

I have recently installed SAPGUI version 740 (7400.1.0.1093). Next to that I have installed Eclipse version Luna with the latest version of ABAP Developer Tools from
https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/luna(2.31.5).
Problem:
When trying to create a new ABAP project I get the following error:
Location 'C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common\saplogon.ini' does not point to a SAP GUI configuration file.
Question:
Since SAPGUI 740 a new type of configuration file is used: SAPUILandscape.xml
I have a local version of this file for own SAP Logon entries and a local server version for company SAP Logon entries.
How can I configure my ADT environment so it works together with SAPGUI 740?
When can it be possible to create ABAP Project on SAP HANA Trial Eclipse, to achieve a SAP BW 7.4 BO Design cloud installation on WINDOWS 10? Is there already some informations from SAP Team about it ? (Use Gui windows 7.20, minisap as 7.03 sp04 64 bit, Eclipse Luna 4.4)
Or is there actually a possibility to avoid the error (Microsoft DLLs VS2010, no sapco3 in java.library.path, no SAP directory in Eclipse preferences settings), which hinders the abap project creation, although hana studio works correctly.

after updating my AiE Eclipse installation to 2.28 i can no longer login into our development systems.

I am new to CDS views in ABAP Dictionary so not sure whether my question is basic or complicated.
I want to create a CDS view in ABAP by joining 5-6 tables based on certain conditions and then retrieve the information from this view in my Report by passing the Select Options defined in the Report selection screen.
My Queries
a. Is the CDS view similar to a Normal Database view ?
b. Can I use IN select-option in my Open SQL statement to fetch information from CDS view ... e.g
SELECT f1 f2 f3 from CDS-View into Internal-Table where f1 in so_f1
c. Is it possible to have a CDS view and code it similar to Procedure in HANA where I can make join on 2 tables and get the results in a Temp table and then again join the Temp table and a third table and fetch the results in Temp2 table?
d. If point c. is not possible in CDS view then my question is How can I pass a Select option (multiple options) to a AMDP Procedure and use that in my query to fetch the information from database

I believe it would be very helpfull to implement this feature if there is no possibility today.

Our developer is facing an authorization while activation 'No authorization to access resource /sap/bc/adt/activation. I have assigned below 2 roles to the user.
SAP_BC_DWB_ABAPDEVELOPER
SAP_BC_DWB_WBDISPLAY
This has access to /sap/bc/adt/abapsource/* /sap/bc/adt/activation, /sap/bc/adt/activation/*. To debug further, I ran a trace and got 2 missing authorizations

Native library sapjco3 is too old. Found library C:\Windows\System32\sapjco3.dll has version "720.612", but required is at least version "721.215".
but, i can get the newest version of sapjco is "720.612", where is to find the version "721.215". sap not udpate?
